Maia Rotman, Project Assistant
Maia joined AVAC in the summer of 09 as the Project Assistant. She assists on a variety of projects and reports, as well as providing administrative and logistical support to AVAC staff.
Prior to AVAC, Maia spent time working in Tanzania for ZANGOC, an umbrella NGO in Zanzibar. There she helped organize women's art and health groups and helped develop ‘Ushujaa Kwa Uhai', a ‘Courage for Life' campaign for people living with HIV/AIDS. In 2008, she was awarded a grant from the United World Colleges Scholars Program to organize and facilitate a photography program for refugee women in Montreal. Maia received a B.A. from Oberlin College in 2008 in Politics and African-American Studies.
