Bill Snow,

Bill Snow has been an advocate for HIV vaccines since 1990, at ACT UP New York and ACT UP Golden Gate. He was instrumental in establishing national, local and global community- advisory boards at the NIH clinical trial networks AVEG, HIVNET and HVTN, and served as a community representative on management groups of each network. He co-chaired and compiled the vaccine research portion of the 1994-95 NIH OAR Program Evaluation Committee, was an original member of the AIDS Vaccine Research Committee chaired by David Baltimore, and served a term on the Office of AIDS Research Advisory Council. He has more recently been part of the Coordinating Committee and Board of the Global HIV/AIDS Vaccine Enterprise, the Scientific Advisory Working Group of the NIH Vaccine Research Center, and the CHAVI Scientific Advisory Board. He was a founder of AVAC and has written about the many challenges of developing AIDS vaccines, including major portions of the first several AVAC reports and the first edition of AVAC's widely used HIV Vaccines Handbook.
