PxROAR (Research, Outreach, Advocacy and Representation)
AVAC's PxROAR program offers training for US advocates in biomedical HIV prevention research education and advocacy through mentorship, peer support, networking opportunities, and technical and financial support.
Meet the new and returning members of PxROAR!
PxROAR embraces a two-fold mission: educating its members in HIV prevention research science and advocacy and providing a domestic platform for specific prevention research advocacy campaigns. Comprised of a select group of US-based prevention research advocates who represent a range of communities, PxROAR members include some of those that are highly affected by the AIDS epidemic.
In 2010-11, PxROAR members contributed to shaping an expanded program of advocacy and community engagement around preparing communities for the results from HIV prevention research. PxROAR members also led activities to help further engage people of color, gay men, and women to collaborate in addressing long-standing barriers to community input in HIV prevention research.
