April 4, 2011 Dear Advocates, We are pleased to announce the release of the next issue of Px Wire, AVAC’s quarterly update on HIV prevention research—a one-stop source for information on biomedical HIV prevention research worldwide. Click here to download the current issue. Highlights in this issue include a new look for the centerspread, which this quarter includes a trials table of ARV-based prevention research in HIV-positive people. We chart the decision-making around 1% tenofovir gel since the CAPRISA 004 trial yielded proof-of-concept nearly nine months ago. (Look for AVAC’s forthcoming analysis of what is—and is not—happening to move tenofovir gel forward, which will be available soon at www.avac.org/tenofovirgel.) This issue also includes an update on the long-term protective benefit of medical male circumcision and encouraging news from follow-up research on the vaccine used in the Step trial. We bring you updates on the Good Participatory Practice Guidelines, including information on the launch of the second edition and a story of GPP in action. Additional resources including the Px Wire archive, information about subscribing, reprint requests and bulk orders can be found at www.avac.org/pxwire. As always, comments are most welcome. Best, |
