HSV-2 Trials Table

Several observational studies and randomized controlled trials have looked at the relationship between HSV-2 suppression and HIV transmission and acquisition. The table (linked below) summarizes key trials in HSV-2 suppression and includes two of the largest randomized controlled studies of HSV-2 treatment to date. Both studies tested a drug regimen of twice-daily acyclovir. One trial examined the effect of HSV-2 suppressive therapy on HIV transmission, and the other on the effect of HSV-2 suppressive therapy on HIV acquisition.
