October 7, 2011 Dear Advocates, This update contains a link to the newest edition of Px Wire, AVAC's quarterly newsletter on HIV prevention research. The issue contains updates on what will come next for the AIDS vaccine regimen that showed modest efficacy in the trial known as RV144, the recent VOICE trial modification and progress in demonstration projects, public health guidance and regulatory decision-making around PrEP in the United States. Click to visit the Px Wire webpage, which includes a link to the current issue, downloadable graphics and information on how to order printed copies. In addition to its usual features—a map of ongoing prevention trials and a timeline of efficacy trial results worldwide—you’ll find a new table of early-phase studies of ARV-based prevention strategies for HIV-negative people, including intermittent PrEP, alternatives to tenofovir-based strategies, vaginal rings, rectal microbicides and injectables. We’ve also expanded the efficacy trial results timeline to include trials that are being planned, as well as follow-on, open-label studies and continuations of trials that have shown initial effectiveness data. As always, your feedback is encouraged. Best, |
