Sex Workers' Hopes and Fears for HIV Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis: Recommendations from a UNAIDS Consultation Meeting

UNAIDS released recommendations on how best to provide community-based PrEP services to sex workers. These recommendations were developed in consultation with sex workers from India and South Africa in November 2013 in Johannesburg. The recommendations call for sex worker involvement in PrEP programming and linkages to comprehensive health services, among other suggestions. The report also explores their perceived hopes and drawbacks around PrEP introduction.
