ECHO Trial Results

The results of the ECHO Study (Evidence for Contraceptive Options in HIV Outcomes)— to assess whether the risk of HIV differs with the use of three safe and effective contraceptive methods (DMPA-IM, the LNG Implant and the copper IUD)— were published on June 13, 2019. The study found no substantial difference in risk of HIV infection among women using one of these methods.
