Chisomo Chaweza
MANERELA (Malawi Network of Religious Leaders Living with HIV)

Chisomo Chaweza is a human rights advocate with a focus on sexual and reproductive health of key populations.
As a Fellow, Chisomo is working in coalition to jumpstart Malawi’s PrEP program, which has been stalled in the demonstration phase of rollout. Specifically, he will push the Department of HIV & AIDS to implement self-testing as a gateway to PrEP for key populations. He will foster a cadre of KP champions to demand PrEP’s rollout and monitor its eventual operations for culturally competent care.
In Their Own Words
I understand the importance of engaging policy makers and decision-makers in advocating for the proper rollout of PrEP in Malawi. I aim to work with key populations to decrease the stigma around accessing services in public health facilities and drop-in centers.
